Summer is officially here! And with summer comes opportunities for fun adventure . . . and great learning! We have put together 25+ ideas for screen-free, multi-age activities for your student(s) – and your whole family – to enjoy this summer. Some of the activities are science-themed but some connect to other fields. Presented as a bingo card, these activities are meant to be fun, (mostly) FREE and flexible to fit your family’s unique summer experience. Read on for more details and download your bingo cards to start today.
We have created two unique sets of bingo cards. The standard bingo cards do not feature all the same activities, meaning an activity on one card may not be on another. If your family wants to avoid a "Hey, I wanted to do that, but it’s not on my card!" scenario, we have a second set of same but different bingo cards that have all the same activities on each card – the activities are just shuffled around so they don’t appear in the same location on each card. You can select whichever version of the bingo cards suits your family best. Each set includes 8 unique cards. Want to get your whole homeschool group involved? Download both sets for 16 unique cards!
We know summer can be a busy time, so some activities include a blank space for the time commitment involved. With these “blanks”, you can set the appropriate time commitment that works for your family for certain activities on the bingo cards.
Activities listed on the bingo cards include:
You can also choose how to use the bingo cards. Here are some ideas:
Go-to boredom buster: Beat the boredom blues by handing your student(s) a card and setting them loose to pursue the different activities.
Homeschool summer supplement: Use the bingo cards to complement your summer educational experience and keep the learning going throughout these sunny months.
Grandparent/babysitter activities: Will your student(s) be spending time with grandparents or a babysitter over the summer? Pass the bingo cards on to Grandma and Grandpa or your favorite babysitter as an activity for them to do with your student(s). Talk about a way to make some great memories!
Screen-free ideas: Sometimes it’s hard to think of screen-free activities in the moment. Let these cards be your treasure trove of screen-free ideas to keep your student(s) engaged and active this summer.
Not sure you can handle adding 24 new activities to your summer? You can decide how many activities you would like your student(s) to pursue. Maybe you just want them to try to get a “BINGO” – 5 activities in a row (or 4 activities + the FREE space). Or maybe you set your student(s) free to do as many activities as they can over the summer. You set the game rules for what works best for your family!
And don’t forget that one of the beauties of homeschooling is the freedom to tweak activities to fit your student(s). For example, if memorizing Psalm 8 is beyond a child’s ability, you can shrink the challenge to a verse or a few verses. Or if your four-year-old twins want to participate in the bingo cards but can’t read yet, let them complete “Read a book to a younger sibling/friend” by being the younger siblings/friends!
Of course, you can also decide if you would like to reward a “BINGO” or the completion of the whole card in some way. A special treat? A favorite activity? A certificate of completion? A trophy? It’s up to you! If you decide to go the certificate route, we have a free one here you can download and print.
And now it’s time to start the adventure! Get your bingo cards below and may the fun and learning begin this summer.
